Section 1

Islam and Christianity

Where do we start discussing Christianity and Islam – are they even different religions at all, or are they in fact two different approaches to the same God? In these first videos, Richard discusses the foundational differences between the two faiths and the way each approaches concepts of God, doubt, and belief.

Session 1

Are Muslims and Christians talking about the same God?

Session 2

Should Christians and Muslims doubt their beliefs?

Session 3

Is Islam more sensible than Christianity?

Session 4

Are Islam and Christianity the same type of religion?

Section 2

Who is God?

The identity and character of God, and what is understood by that, has a huge impact on the followers and fundamental principles of a religion. This section explores some of the theological concepts at the centre of Islam and Christianity, and how the person of God is seen through that.

Session 5

Is the doctrine of the Trinity coherent and is the Muslim doctrine of God any better?

Session 6

Is religion about law or love?

Session 7

Why is God hidden?

Session 8

Was there a huge coverup over who the true original Christians were?

Section 3

Islamic Law

The Qur’an is central to Islam, but why exactly does it hold so much weight for Muslims and does the Bible hold the same significance for Christians? Looking at the claims of Qur’anic infallibility, Richard unpacks how these ideas shape the Islamic view of law and whether these claims hold up.

Session 9

Is the text of the Qur’an perfect?

Session 10

Is the Qur’an a linguistic miracle?

Session 11

Is the Qur’an a mathematical miracle?

Session 12

Do Muslims want to enforce Islam?

Section 4

Who is Jesus?

What do Christians and Muslims agree about Jesus – and why is Jesus such an important figure in the Qur’an? This final section of the series examines how disparate views of Jesus mark a supreme difference between Islam and Christianity, and ways in which we can explore this in respectful conversation.

Session 13

Who is the true Jesus?

Session 14

Can the incarnation of Jesus make sense to Muslims?

Session 15

Does Sufism give us a clear vision of Jesus?

Session 16

Why does Islam have a Messiah (and even an Anti-Christ)?

Session 17

Why didn’t Jesus say “I’m God”?

This course consists of seventeen videos that explore key ideas that come up when discussing ideas of faith, God, belief, doubt and identity with a Muslim and how they interact or differ from those same themes in Christianity. These are split into four sections:

  • Islam and Christianity
  • Who is God?
  • Islamic Law
  • Who is Jesus?

Each video is accompanied by a worksheet (also available in a full handbook to print) with key points and reflection questions to help you explore the topic, your own response to it, and how to share those thoughts with friends.

In purchasing this course, you’ll also receive twelve months’ free access to the Engaging World Religions Membership+This includes monthly resources and reflections, as well as access to quarterly live webinars. The webinars are opportunities for further teaching and live Q&A, with Rahil and other guest speakers leading you to dig further into the ideas introduced here on Islam as well as Indic faiths.
