Lara Buchanan is an Associate Speaker at the OCCA, and her work emphasises evangelism from within a context of friendship.

Lara joined OCCA as an Associate Speaker, after running the internship and theological training program for St. Aldates Church, Oxford. Before that, she worked for several years as a secondary school teacher in English and History. Her work focusses on evangelism from within the context of friendship.

Lara has an extensive background in education, holding degrees in History, Literature, and a PGCE in Secondary Education from the University of Cape Town. She has a Certificate in Apologetics from the OCCA, and Theology from Oxford University. Before working as an Associate Speaker for OCCA, Lara worked as a secondary school teacher for a number of years.

Lara’s work on apologetics and evangelism, and her educational background, has led her to speak internationally in various academic and corporate settings in Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and across the UK. She emphasises the importance of doing evangelism from within the context of friendship.

Lara Buchanan joined OCCA as an Associate Speaker in 2016. For several years, Lara worked as an English and History secondary school teacher. Prior to OCCA, she accepted a position at St. Aldates Church, Oxford, where she ran their internship and theological training program.

Lara’s extensive educational background consist of degrees in History, English Literature, and a PGCE in Secondary Education from the University of Cape Town. More recently, she received a Certificate from OCCA in Christian Apologetics, and in Theology from Oxford University. Lara’s expertise has meant she has received invitations to speak globally in both academic and corporate settings.

Lara has a specific interest in studying the impact of Jesus’ life – both for the individual, and for the community. Having spoken in Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and across the UK, her hope is to develop meaningful connections with people from other cultures, faiths, and worldviews. Lara enjoys exploring the deeper questions of life together alongside those of other journeys but importantly within the context of friendship.
