Dr. Sharon Dirckx is an independent speaker and author, and an Associate Lecturer at the OCCA. Her work focusses on the intersection of psychology, philosophy, and identity. She received her PhD from the University of Cambridge and has held research positions in both the UK and the States.

Sharon has published several books including Why?: Looking at God, Evil, and Personal Suffering  (2013), which won the prize for best book at the 2014 Speaking Volumes UK Christian Book Awards. Her latest book, Broken Planet (2023) responds to the dichotomy of a good God co-existing with natural disasters.

Over the last decade, Sharon has been invited to speak internationally at various conferences, churches, and universities. She has also featured on popular podcasts such as ‘The Big Conversation’ where she dialogued with philosopher Iain McGilchrist in 2022, or on Justin Brierley’s program Unbelievable. Sharon enjoyed her work, too, with BBC programs including Songs of Praise, Radio 2: Good Morning Sunday, and Radio 4: Beyond Belief.

Sharon lives happily in Oxford with her husband and their two wonderful children.
