Cristo has a background in education with over 20 years’ experience in teaching. He has worked in schools abroad with the British Council, as well as in Alternative Provision, Youth Work, and the voluntary sector. He has also served as Managing Director of a Christian education charity and as a Chaplain. Most recently, Cristo worked as a Trust‑Wide Subject Leader in Religious Education for a large Multi‑Academy Trust.
Cristo holds a BA (Birmingham), a PGCE (Nottingham), and an MA (Sheffield) in Translation Studies, where his research focused on Bible Translation Theory.
Alongside teaching, Cristo has conducted research into Philosophy in Religious Education. He contributed a case study on Philosophy in Religious Education to Reviving Rhetoric (Routledge, 2026). In 2024/25, Cristo was a Farmington Scholar at the Farmington Institute, Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford, researching RE GCSE exam questions and the discipline of theology.
Cristo also works in consultancy in Religious Education and is a PhD candidate in Education at Darwin College, Cambridge, where his research focuses on disciplinary knowledge and argument in RE.
He holds additional leadership roles as a trustee of the Association of Christian Teachers (ACT), a member of the Christian Coalition for Education (CCFE), and the Coordinator of the Religious Education Network (REN).
Cristo is a speaker and tutor responsible for schools work at OCCA, The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. His passion is helping people understand Christianity and walk with Christ.
Cristo lives happily with his wife and children in a small village in Oxfordshire.
